Hurricane Debby couldn't stop us! Backpacks, school supplies, books, Medicaid information -- these are some of the things community members were blessed with at the Annual Backpack and School Supply Giveaway on Saturday.
At 11am, Min. Davis Worley started the group of volunteers and community members with prayer. After, the children kept coming, receiving backpacks filled with school supplies and books. There was facepainting and they also had their choice of additifonal books. Refreshments were served and parents met with National Pike Health (https://nphcinc.com) to receive information on the many benefits afforded to Medicaid recipients, many of whom are not receiving the full array of benefits available. Dr. Monifa Jones offered guidance, information and gifts for the children.
The event was held in front of the worship center on North Mount Street, which is in the final stages of renovation, soon to be open for in-person worship.
Next up is the Fall Clothing Giveaway, scheduled for October 12th. If you'd like to volunteer to help with this or future outreach, contact Bro. Worley at 443-962-9154.

When the Church works together to do what matters, we uplift our community and change people's lives. And others notice, just as th scriptures teach (Acts 2:42-47). That's how we make an impact and win souls for Christ..
Bro. Harris joined us for our backpack giveaway and his observations are noted in the article linked below.
When we do something to give back, inspire, and uplift our people, we can and will see the change in our communities that we desire. Let us always strive to demonstrate the best in God's kingdom!

Held at the Easterwood Recreation Center on Bentalou Street on the West Side, the camp is a component of the church's Career and College Prep Program (CCPP), planting seeds and getting community members ready to be productive through education, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.
The CCPP is funded in part by Bell Trust.

After five years worshipping and serving the community out of the Lillian Jones Recreation Center, the Church of Christ in Sandtown now has a new home! Church leadership has acquired a building in the Sandtown/Harlem Park community -- a home base where we can worship and study, conduct community outreach, and implement free programming for the community. We are so blessed and grateful to God for providing what is needed.
Several months of renovations will be required before we can begin using the building, and we are calling on the brotherhood to support these efforts.
The Church of Christ in Sandtown (501(c)3) is not just a church – it is a mission of community outreach and service! Even without a permanent worship and outreach center, this small congregation has been able to implement its mission to aid the communities of Sandtown-Winchester and Harlem Park with:
"The Blessings of Faith"
